Zingerman’s Bakehouse bread
Crispy, thick crust; soft, chewy crumb inside. The loaf will arrive wrapped in a paper bread bag. Store it in its paper bag on the counter – out of reach of hungry husbands, wily wives, clever kids – for a few days. If you don’t plan on eating your bread right away, double bag the whole or partial loaf in plastic and freeze for up to three months.
Zingerman’s Bakehouse pastries and coffee cake
Made with high quality ingredients like really good butter and real vanilla. All of our pastries and coffee cakes are baked without preservatives, so you’ll want to eat them soon. Each baked good will have an “eat or freeze by” sticker that is about two weeks from when the package started its lucky journey from us to you. If you’ll be enjoying the treats soon, they can be kept at room temperature in the packaging they arrived in or in a plastic bag. Avoid the refrigerator, it can ruin the texture. For longer term storage, all of our baked goods freeze well for up to three months. You can store them in the freezer in their original packaging or, if they’ve been opened, double wrapped in plastic bags.
Zingerman’s Stollen
The German-style stollen is loaded with tons of candied and dried fruit: glacéed lemons, oranges, Michigan cherries, fresh lemon and orange zest, fresh lemon juice, currants, golden raisins, and Red Flame raisins. All that fruit soaks in Bacardi® white rum for at least 24 hours before being mixed into the dough. In addition to the fruit, we get an extra aromatic boost from the inclusion of almonds, Mexican vanilla, and Indonesian cinnamon. With a texture akin to rich, toothsome bread, it makes exceptional toast.
Artisan cheese
The Downeast cheddar from Pineland Farms is everything we love in a New England style cheddar. It’s a great snacking cheese, with a creamy texture and hearty, savory flavors. The gouda is selected by L’amuse in Amsterdam and set aside to age for about 6 months or so, which is on the younger side for gouda. It’s got a great milky sweetness with notes of butterscotch and caramel. Both will stay good for a long time – many days for sure, sometimes weeks.
Salami from Red Bear Provisions
Made with humanely sourced meat and traditionally cured. To prolong its life at home, keep it refrigerated. But hours or even days at warmer temperatures won’t harm it a bit. Like with most traditional foods, if you serve salami at room temperature you’ll get a lot more flavor than if it’s eaten cold, just out of the refrigerator.
J. Patrice Mango Passion Fruit Pate de Fruit
Fancy fruit gummies made in Michigan, loaded with mango and passionfruit purées and coated in a light layer of sugar.
Zingerman’s Peppermint Bark
Zingerman’s Candy Manufactory makes their peppermint bark with a layer of dark chocolate, a layer of white chocolate, and plenty of peppermint candies mixed throughout the chocolate as well as sprinkled on top.
Zingerman’s Spiced Pecans
Made here in our kitchen, whole pecans toasted with butter, lots of freshly ground Tellicherry black pepper, Jamaican allspice, ground ginger, cloves and more. The nuts cluster together in little caramelly-spicy handfuls, making it way too easy to eat too many.
Zingerman’s Hot Cocoa Mix
The cocoa connoisseurs at Zingerman’s Delicatessen spent months formulating, blending, testing and finally packaging our house blend of hot cocoa mix. Made with Guittard chocolate, it’s got deep flavor without being overwhelmingly rich.
