Anabasque Cheese from Landmark Creamery

Excellent American sheep's milk cheese.

From Landmark Creamery in Wisconsin, this American original is named for a combination of the cheesemaking partners (both named Anna) and the cheese that inspired the recipe: Ossau-Iraty from France’s Basque region.

Made from sheep’s milk and aged until firm yet still creamy and rich, the flavor is just the right balance of saltiness and fruitiness. Lovely and approachable, it’s won awards from professional cheese judges (now there’s a job!) and ordinary cheese eaters alike.

It’s especially great alongside hard ciders, fruity red wines, and Marcona almonds.
