Hacienda Miramonte is located in the canton (“county”) of Naranjo in Costa Rica’s Central Valley. The farm was started in 1917 by the matriarch of the Gurdian family, Lucila Duval de Morales, and is now operated by her great-grandson Ricardo Gurdian. Generation after generation, the Gurdians have reaffirmed their commitment to growing quality coffee while serving as stewards of the environment and their local community.
This coffee was especially chosen from the finest lots of Hacienda Miramonte, where Zingerman’s Coffee Company had first pick from all of the coffee crops. This coffee, which was picked from the best cherries on the farm, is considered the Zingerman’s Reserve. This coffee’s preparation is the “pure honey” process. The result of this process lends an amazing sweetness and juiciness to an already lively and cocoa-y coffee.
