American Spoon Pumpkin Seed Salsa

While many of our featured “new” finds are brand-new to us, some foods have been staples in our kitchens for years. This pumpkin seed salsa from American Spoon in Petoskey, Michigan, is practically my house salsa at this point, and once you taste it you’ll know why.

Crafted in small batches with tomatoes, red bell peppers, pumpkin seeds, cilantro, chiles, and spices, it’s fresh, earthy, nutty, and just the right amount of spicy. The heat is moderate—you’ll feel it, but it won’t light your mouth on fire. The ground pumpkin seeds make for a thicker texture so each spoonful clings perfectly to whatever you’re piling it on.

I reach for it especially for eggs, nachos, and pork tacos.
