Chernushka rye bread

A twist on traditional rye.

Chernushka Rye takes our great Jewish rye base made with organic wheat flour and loads of freshly milled rye flour, and packs it with loads of nigella seeds: a spice that’s like a cross between a pepper and a caraway seed. They’re native to the Middle East and India where they are often used in bread. Their flavor is intriguing with a smoky scent and a mild amount of spicy heat. Not so much your mouth is burning, just enough to make things interesting and very tasty. The flavor sings with corned beef or pastrami, smoked whitefish, cream cheese, or just really good, cultured butter.
