Peanut butter cup, in cake form.

The base for this coffee cake starts with a heady dose of tahini, a Middle Eastern sesame seed paste that, when baked in the cake, tastes rich and nutty, like peanut butter. Then the cake gets a ribbon of chocolate swirled all through it.

Think of it as a slightly exotic version of a peanut butter cup in coffee cake form, with all the flavor but none of the peanuts. Kids love it ’cause it’s got chocolate inside. Adults love it ’cause it’s straight up delicious.
