Tuscan Heirloom Tomato Soup

So yeah. Soup in August. Crazy, right? Not if it’s for a cold soup like gazpacho! We’ve been enjoying the soups from Tomato Bliss from the west side of Michigan for a while now, even featuring their Moroccan sipping soup in our Get Well Gift Box, but it took an email (and a simple recipe) from Monique Hypes (CEO/co-founder) for me to see the sunny light, as it were.

Chilled Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho Recipe

1 jar of heirloom tomato soup, chilled in fridge

1⁄4 watermelon, chopped

1 cucumber, peeled and chopped

1⁄2 bunch basil, chopped

Combine in bowl, keep chilled, serve with crusty bread and crisp wine! 

Mango

Spicy Mango Chutney

It’s rare I feature the same producer in back-to- back installments, but I’m a big fan of Chitra Agrawal and her creations at Brooklyn Dehli. This spicy mango chutney has become my go-to ingredient for spicing up sauces, mixing with yogurt as a dip, or using to braise and flavor grilled meats. 

It’s vegan (and gluten-free) and made from fresh mangoes, golden raisins, prickly ginger, and warming spices like garam masala. It’s spicy in the way it has a lot flavors, not that it’s going to burn your lips off or something. Start playing around with it and see what you can create! Heck…you could even mix some in with the heirloom tomato soup also included in this installment.
