Organic Jasmine Rice from California

A lovely organic jasmine rice from True Origin Foods out in California. I first made their acquaintance as part of the Good Food Mercantile “Virtual” Food Show where I got the chance to meet some of the country’s most interesting and flavorful artisan producers working today.

I really love the aroma of this jasmine rice… it’s got a nice floral nose and a soft, fragrant flavor. It’s as if it was made for this coconut cashew korma sauce. It’s great with curries and really, really easy to use.

Coconut Cashew Korma from Brooklyn

Chitra Agrawal has been wowing us with her sauces and achaars for years now, so it’s no surprise that we really loved this korma sauce when we got the chance to taste it earlier this year. It’s a new product for Chitra and her company, Brooklyn Dehli. Compared to some of Chitra’s other sauces, this korma is softer, more delicate, creamy and easy to approach. There’s coconut cream and shredded coconut inside, along with cashew butter and cardamom and some other spices that bring the warmth level up without kicking the spiciness into high gear. Cook your main ingredient (tofu, chicken, any protein really) and then simmer it in a whole jar of this sauce for an easy meal. Serve with the included rice and you’re in like Flynn.
