Coffee cakes have been our best selling gift since we started mailing food in the early 1990s.

Having tried a lot of coffee cakes in the past couple decades I can say quite honestly that I haven’t tasted one I like better. I think the same goes for a lot of our customers—many folks return year after year to send coffee cakes and coffee cakes only. It’s substantial, it’s honest, it’s straightforward and it’s really good.

With so many coffeecakes to choose from, the decision can be a tricky one.

But if you ask anyone that works in Zingerman’s, the Lemon Poppyseed is the coffeecake they like best and recommend every time. It’s the secret sunrise snack of Zingerman’s regulars who happily bypass bagels and muffins for a slice of this cult classic.

Legendary.

It’s made with fresh lemon juice, real lemon oil, loads of real butter, real vanilla and a veritable passel of Dutch poppy seeds. With none of the artificial aftertaste that most lemon-flavored pastries have, it tastes like biting into a perfect morning: sunny, rich, delicious.
