Tinned Parrotfish from the Azores

About 1,000 miles west of Portugal, the Azores are a cluster of volcanic islands in the North Atlantic. The cannery Casa do Portinho celebrates the region’s rich maritime heritage through its tinned fish offerings, like this tinned parrotfish, called “veja” in Portuguese. The fish are caught off the local coasts and then gently cold-smoked with local wood and carefully preserved in olive oil. Its flavor is buttery and rich, with a super delicate texture.
