Milk Chocolate Covered Hazelnuts

Don't over think it. Just eat.

Did you know that Oregon produces more hazelnuts than any other state in the union? 99% of the entire US crop of hazelnuts is grown in the Willamette Valley area between Portland and Eugene. Did you also know they sometimes call them filberts? It refers to the husked shell of a hazelnut which they say resembles a "full beard" and that's where the term comes from. It's not a different kind of hazelnut, it's just another name for the tasty nut we eat.

These hazelnuts were grown at Ash Creek, Rob Hamlin's family farm. The family originally settled the land in the 1800s, starting out as sheep herders. But today the farm has timber, crops, sheep, and of course, hazelnuts.

They do things simply, as Rob said. "It's just great tasting hazelnuts and great tasting chocolate. Don't need to make it more complicated then that."

A little chocolate and nut is the perfect late afternoon snack to get you through the rest of the day and fuel your evening toward more pleasant activities. You don't even need a full beard to enjoy these chocolate covered filberts.
