Shawn Askinosie and his team at Askinosie Chocolate make some of the best bean to bar chocolates I've ever tried. Partnering directly with cacao farmers and communities on four continents, Shawn sources exceptional chocolate beans with unique, exciting flavors. Working at his chocolate shop in Springfield, Missouri, Shawn roasts the beans and crafts chocolate bars that emphasize the best of the beans. These are two of my favorite bars from his exceptional line up.
 
Dark Chocolate Red Raspberry Bar: Working in collaboration with Michigan's master jam makers at American Spoon, Shawn blends organic red raspberries with 54% dark chocolate made from beans grown in San Jose Del Tambo, Ecuador. The flavor is bursting bright with fruity raspberry, balanced between sweet and tart. There are no raspberry seeds, making the texture silky as it melts on your tongue.
 
Dark Milk Chocolate Bar: This bar starts with 62% dark chocolate made from beans grown in Davao, Philippines. Shawn and the crew blend in goat's milk powder, organic cane sugar, and a touch of fleur de sel sea salt. The result as an impossibly creamy bar that balances the bitter bite of the dark chocolate with the sweet, creamy milk, all heightened by the barest salty edge. 
 
The result of Shawn's work—in eye-catching packaging—is astounding. Great for any level of chocolate lover.
