These are one of those simple, unassuming savory snacks that should come with a warning label: Caution! May lead to addiction!

Made in Puglia, the ankle of Italy, with two things Puglia has in abundance: olive oil and wheat. Taralli are little rings of oil-rich dough, boiled then baked till crispy. They crunch when you bite then practically melt in your mouth as you chew.

It’s way too easy to knock back a whole bag in one sitting. Be careful.
