This caramel sauce comes from one of those young, hip companies that seem to exist on every block in Brooklyn, New York. Trendiness aside, they’re doing everything right in my book: using fresh, organic ingredients, shunning preservatives, working in small batches. And while many small food makers get an A for effort but not for deliciousness, these folks have the flavor nailed.
They’ve crafted a caramel with a dark, cooked, burnt sugar sweetness and luscious, lick your lips texture that’ll make you want eat it straight from the jar. They’ve also mixed in toasted sesame seeds, which add a surprising, slightly nutty note and a soft, pleasant chewiness. Try it first with a spoon. Then use it on top of gelato, cheesecake, brownies or apples.
