Ceramic Pour Over Coffee Maker

Home coffee-making's pinnacle of flavor.

Ask a serious coffee nerd and they’ll tell you: pour-over coffee—AKA manual drip—can make the best tasting coffee on earth. It's also just about the easiest to make.

All you need is a kettle of hot water (we love the Hario hot water kettle), a paper filter, ground coffee and this ceramic chamber. The filter and coffee go in the chamber, the chamber sits over a coffee mug and you pour hot water over the grounds. The chamber fills with hot water, and brewed coffee slowly drips into the mug. It's similar to how a drip coffee machine works, but instead of brewing a whole pot of coffee (with varying temperature and water dispersion problems) it makes one cup of coffee—in a fraction of the time.

Unlike French Press, pour-over coffee doesn't steep, so it has a much smoother texture, without the grit that sometimes accompanies press pot coffee. I know of no other brewing method this simple and that releases so much of the flavor. If I get a special coffee—Sweet Yellow Brazilian, for example—this is the way I like to brew it. It's like making coffee in high fidelity: you taste all the high and low notes.

Great for home coffee enthusiasts, traveling coffee enthusiasts (I always pack one for vacations) and college students.
